The department has a new special topics course this fall! The course is called "Designing Blended Learning Environments." If you are interested in blended learning, look for it soon in WISER.
Below is some info on the course:
Course Description:
With blended learning, educators seek to maximize learning benefits by making the best use of traditional and technology-supported strategies. The focus of this course is on defining different types of blends and evaluating the evidence from the literature in the field regarding the efficacy of different types of blends. A "theory-to-practice-in-context" model will enable students in the class to design a blended unit of instruction for adult learners. Elective course.
Required Texts:

Course topic exploration will take place during limited face-to-face (and/or streaming) synchronous sessions and online in asynchronous activities including threaded discussions and a reflective learning journal. Didactic material will be at a minimum and will take place mainly online. Real-time meetings will be devoted to discussion, collaboration, and practice activities. Student presentations of final projects can be delivered synchronously or recorded according to your preference based on what you have learned about blended learning.
